Connecting the mind, to the body, to the soul, Lovie's sets inspire the warmest, most community-minded dance floors you'll find in New York. For four years Lovie's Lot radio residency—now being offered as one of the station's few weekly shows—has thumbed through the intimate corners of her music collection. Her diligence to the craft, musical curiosity, and deep focus on the listening experience has earned her a spot on Mixmag's Top 25 Breakthrough DJs of 2024, as well as a coveted residency at Brooklyn club public records. She saunters through slow-groove disco, dusty '70s funk, and sumptuous house music, all spun with the patience and musicality associated with the East Coast house tradition. Lovie's studied archival work paired with deep emotional wisdom makes for honey-sweet dance floor memories you'll want to replay again and again.
broadcasting every Tuesday at 10am from The Lot Radio, summer school radio started as a pandemic project for Lovie. now four years old, the show boasts a community of listeners that tune in to hear her discoveries, for a sonic range that spans ambient, spoken word, spiritual jazz, soul, alternative R&B, and more–new releases from Nala Sinephro and Laila! sit alongside Jeff Majors and Lonnie Liston Smith. in 2024, summer school radio expanded to in person deep listening sessions at Weeksville Heritage Center in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. the performance space at Weeksville becomes an experiential room for sound, with Lovie's curation joined alongside guests such as Alex Rita (Calm Roots), muva of Earth, and Laraaji.
